Feedburner + Twitter = Fritter . . . . mmmm

So, you've spent countless hours researching, writing and editing that perfect post about your favorite type eggplant. You very proudly click Publish waiting for the flood of people to say, "Holy cow! You're a genius!"

And you wait

and wait

Chances are good that they didn't know about it right away. Now, you have to go from one social network to another telling people of your brilliant insights into eggplant life. Except, I'm lazy. VERY lazy. I think that once I click that magic Publish link that should be it. Period.

Enter Feedburner + Twitter
If you listened to me before and added your RSS feed to Feedburner, then your Google Readers are already aware of your new post. Now we can use it to let everyone else know because we are going to use a few technologies where other people have done all the hard work for us. First, you should have a Twitter (http://www.twitter.com) account. While you are there, follow me @landscapedia.

Next, open your Feedburner (http://www.feedburner.com) page in a new tab on your browser (ctrl + t for Win, cmd + t for Mac). Sign in.

Go ahead and click on your feed name. Look along the top and go to Publicize. Socialize along the left hand column.

Now we can add our Twitter account here. Pretty much use the standard options. Make sure you click Activate at the bottom or it won't do anything cool.

Bam! Now your new posts are automatically posted to Twitter with a link through Feedburner (for statistics) back to your blog.  Cool, no?

Now, here's where it gets good. We use Twitter to update your Facebook, LinkedIn and other social network services. Get it? You hit Publish in your blog which pushes it to Twitter which updates everything else!

Yeah, it's kind of a Rube Goldberg-esque (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg_machine) solution, but it saves me a lot of time.
